Constance Jaiyeola from the Rotaract club of Ikoyi, Rotaract district 9110 was interviewed by the publisher of Ojodu Eye Magazine on the 2023 Youth Summit.
How do you feel being the chairperson of this youth summit?
I give glory to God. Actually rotary international elevate the rotaract status from partnership to membership. One of the elevator criteria of rotary is that a rotaractor should be given the opportunity to serve at the rotary committee, So this is the first time it’s happening and I am the current chairperson of the rotary youth summit. Then it has always been a rotarian chairing the program but now they have seen more reasons why a rotaractor should lead and youths can actually display the leadership improvement they expect.
What’s your advise to the youths and what do they stand to gain in this summit?
This summit is not only a rotaract and rotary event, we have other organisations like : LEO Club, JCI, Island Club, The Achievers Club etc
Youths should be the agent of positive change, we have to contribute our own quota by doing the right things at the right time. I’m very sure that this summit will have positive impact in the lives of the youths because it’s more interacting, we have great speakers like: Rotarian Omotunde Lawson fcai, Hon Adijat Adeleye Oladapo Commissioner For Culture and Tourism Ogun State. Engr. Olatunji Akinosi, FNSE. Hon. Com. for Forestry Ogun State and many Rotaractors. These are personnel who are loaded with great ideas that will bring change to their lives. They are also ready to financially support us.
What advice do you have for youths that choose to spend most of their valuable time on social media?
I use social media handles alot and I use it wisely. My advice to them is that they should make it an avenue to get good information that will add value to their lives like : educational materials etc.
What should we expect in the coming edition of this summit?
Expect something bigger than this that will be the talk of the town.
