The new Deputy Inspector General of Police (in charge of Southwest), DIG Sylvester Abiodun Alabi continues to receive commendations on his new rank and role in the Nigeria Police Force. The latest is coming from the Chairman of Executive Group and Board Member, Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayo Ogunsan who expressed his excitement about the impressive and deserved rise of the former Commissioner of Police in Lagos State Command. Dr. Ogunsan, who is also the Patron of the Police-Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Lagos expressed unflinching belief in the readiness and capacity of the new DIG to ensure improved security in the Southwest geopolitical zone of the country, Trek Africa Newspaper can report.
The security aficionado, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan recalled: ‘When our new DIG was in Lagos both as CP Lagos Command and AIG Zone 2, he did excellently. I can remember that our Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu do refer to him as Mr. Peace. And indeed, it was a tenure of peace in Lagos.’
‘DIG Alabi partnered well with other security agencies and the community groups. He also had a harmonious relationship with the Lagos State Security Trust Fund. This amiable quality is an invaluable asset in the arsenal of any leader, especially someone like him whose stance on community policing strategy is well-known’, Ogunsan told Trek Africa Newspaper.
‘I want to charge DIG Sylvester Abiodun Alabi to see this role as God-ordained. From Lagos as CP to Lagos and Ogun as AIG and now as DIG for Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti. This is not an error or a coincidence, I do not think so. Please make the best of it. Ruthlessly tackle the issue of insecurity of all forms in the Southwest. I trust God to support you on this project’, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan concluded.
